Japan’s Immigration Services Agency has announced a proposal to revise the fees for residence status procedures.

Please note that these changes have NOT taken effect yet.

The proposal is currently under public consultation, and the government aims to implement the new fees around October 2026.

Proposed changes

・ Change of Status of Residence / Extension of Period of Stay

Current fee:
¥6,000

Proposed fee:
¥10,000 to ¥75,000
(depending on the period of stay)

・ Permanent Residence Application

Current fee:
¥10,000

Proposed fee:
¥200,000

These amounts are still proposals and may change before the final implementation.

【① 税金の未納・滞納】

住民税の未納や納付遅れは、永住許可審査で非常に重要なポイントです。

たとえ現在は完納していても、過去に長期間の滞納があった場合は審査に影響する可能性があります。

国民年金や厚生年金の支払い状況も確認されます。
